From north to south, from east to west, France is full of lovely and typical markets that will delight all desires. In this article we will go around our favorite markets in France.

The Wazemmes market of Lille
North of the France, in the center of Lille, you will be able to stroll through the market of Wazemmes. In the colorful district of the same name, this market is one of the largest in France and gives Lille its embroidery style throughout the year.

Located at Place de la nouvelle aventure, which cannot better bear its name, this market is considered an institution. Its reputation has been made thanks to its varied offer, with traders of fresh products, of the primers, of cloth and clothing dealers… It is a friendly place where you can meet in a good atmosphere.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays from 7am to 2pm. Covered halls from Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm.

The Colmar Market
A little further east, in Alsace, if you ever go through Colmar, we recommend a trip to the market. Located in the Little Venice District and its many half-timbered houses, the halls are a must-have place in the city.

Its building, made of bricks and stones, as well as its metal frame, takes us back to the nineteenth century. In fact, the halls are bordered by the Lauch, a small river that allowed the producers to bring their products directly to the boat.

Make your choice of Münster according to the smells, go try a part of typical Kougelhopf or test its ham « better than elsewhere ».
This place is so nice, that it has remained a warm place for locals.

The Cahors Market
The Cahors Market, in the Lot, located on the square of the cathedral Saint-Etienne, feast your senses with its multicolored stalls and its multiple odors. Everyone agrees to say it is one of the most beautiful markets in France.

There are local producers, who will make you discover their lamb, their goat cheese, their famous apple cake, but also many butchers and primers.

Many local specialties so in a nice and typical setting.

Tuesday and Saturday 8am-1pm

The Issigeac Market
Not very far from Cahors, if you go through the Dordogne, you can go for a walk to the Issigeac market. Taking life in the heart of this medieval village, the market gives this village a special charm. In addition to this, you can meet regional producers and artisanal products, in the middle of the houses with wood.

Sunday 8am-1pm

The Saint-Jean-de-Luz market
In the heart of Basque Country, between the old harbor and the fine sandy beach that borders the coast, make a detour through the halls of Saint – Jean – de – Luz.
Located between two small typical streets of the red shutters, the covered market is open every morning. You can meet local producers, enjoy the fresh fish of the morning and sample the many Basque specialties, such as sheep’s cheese, Basque cake and pintxos. In the vicinity of this market, we find as many tourists as regulars of the area.
At the same time, this market is known to be one of the most beautiful department.

Halls open every day 7am-1pm. Saturday morning in July-August. Market outside on Tuesdays and Fridays mornings.

The Dijon Market
In the same way of Colmar, but in a different style, the halls of Dijon worth a look. This building, with its metallic architecture dating from the end of the nineteenth century, is inspired by the huge halls of Paris. Each ark consists of animal heads (roe deer, ox, sheep) and mythological symbols such as the representation of the goddess of the Harvest (Ceres).

The colors and fragrances will enchant your senses as soon as you enter this lively market. Thanks to its wide choice of regional products and its many restaurants, everyone can take a walk.

Central Market: Tuesday morning, Thursday morning (under the halls). Friday morning and Saturday (market until 6pm outside the halls).

The Royan Market
With its original shape, which might make you think of the sun rays or a daisy flower seen from the sky, the halls of Royan are modern and welcome more than 200 traders.

Its architecture which allows natural lighting of the places and the grandeur of this covered space have made it an emblematic place of Royan.
You can discover many local products such as cheese cakes or slippers patties and go hard to see between the fishmongers that highlight the fresh fish.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday. Daily from June 15 to September 15 7h-13h)
